Last Saturday saw a great turnout in Peninsula ward with enough people to set up two canvassing teams (yet again).
Since June 2013 we’ve covered the whole ward (excepting the secure blocks of flats on the Peninsula itself-early in the New Year we’ll be bringing the phone bank to their attention plus a coffee morning in Oval Square).
Many thanks to all the regulars who came along for us but a special mention for Cherry Parker (Blackheath Westcombe) and Cllrs Quibell and Pennycook (aka PPC). However, the prize for most valiant goes to Chris Kirby for turning out on his birthday – the recipient of a stirring rendition of the appropriate song in Tuskar Street (embarrassment factor 10/10). Most of the party then retired to a local public house to partake of refreshment and sign ward Christmas cards.
Sunday at it again!
Chris and Denise joined Stephen and The Friends East Greenwich Pleasaunce and The Bridge for their combined event for Santa’s annual early visit to the area. There were food stalls, a wheelbarrow sale, jazz, carols and choir and the bar with its infamous mulled wine. Chris and Denise were introduced to its delights by a candidate colleague (he shall remain nameless) who was serving the drinks!
This year Santa and his Elves were delivered in a decorated ‘hurry up’ van / Police Sleigh (thanks to our local Met representatives) flanked by two mounted outriders.
“Move along now there’s nothing to see…the Grotto’s closed!”
Over 200 children + their parents/carers queued to meet Santa and the Elves. Despite using a colour banding system the last child went in at 16.35! Clearing up in the dark is always tricky but this is a great community event in the ward’s calendar and well worth the effort.
Don’t forget 22.12.2013 4th Annual Greenwich Pantomime Horse Race http://pantohorserace.org/ in aid of Demelza (Hospice for Children) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ns5BfG5Qtk
How much more fun can you have in an old flannel suit?
Happy Christmas and a successful New Year to all Chris Denise Stephen
Just to let you know we’ll be out canvassing again Saturday 07 12 2013.
We’ll be meeting at 32 Woolwich Road 10.30 and will be finished by 13.00… so plenty of time for that Christmas shopping afterwards!
Now that the MP selection process is over we’d like to get back to the larger teams that have enabled us to cover so much ground since June. Please join us if you can.
Saturday’s additional helper is our new Greenwich & Woolwich PPC Matthew Pennycook.
Sunday 08 12 2013 Carols and Santa in East Greenwich Pleasaunce 14.00-16.00
Bring the kids to see Santa…he arrives by Metropolitan Police Sleigh 14.00…mulled wine mince pies things to buy carols to sing!
Hoping to see you at both events

We’ll be using this blog to share some of our ideas with you – more importantly to share the comments and opinions we get from you, community representatives and local businesses with other people and organisations.
We look forward to meeting you and receiving your comments and support over the coming months and, more importantly, after the election.
All three of us are local and know the area well – so decisions that affect you affect us.
